Jurgen Klopp insists he cannot guarantee Liverpool FC supporters silverware this season despite a busy summer of transfer activity.

The Reds have been one of the most active Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window to put themselves in a position to challenge for the title this term.

Liverpool FC started their summer spending spree with the £39m addition of Brazil international Fabinho from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco.

Guinea international Naby Keita finally completed his £48m switch to Liverpool FC from Bundesliga giants RB Leipzig after the two clubs agreed a fee last summer.

Liverpool FC recruited Swiss star Xherdan Shaqiri in a cut price £13.5m deal following Stoke City’s relegation to the Championship.

Alisson Becker became the world’s most expensive goalkeeper when the Brazil number one completed a £67m move to Liverpool FC from AS Roma.

Liverpool FC still haven’t won any silverware under Klopp following losses to Manchester City, Sevilla and Real Madrid in the League Cup, Europa League and Champions League finals.

Asked whether he could promise Liverpool FC fans their first trophy since 2011, Klopp said:

“Can I promise next season any silverware? Of course not.

“How could I? We will fight for it. That is what we promised in all the years and we did it.

“We were always close. If people want to judge our journey so far as a success or not purely on whether you have won something, do it. I have no problem with that. That is how the world is.

“But did people enjoy the journey, saw the final and said ‘that’s football, it can be happy’ then we have been successful.

“Then we are close together with the fans and the team. It feels different. People were really ready to fight together until the final thing.”

The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
