Insider provides latest Liverpool FC transfer update on goalkeeper search
Daily Mirror reporter David Maddock suggests Liverpool FC will keep Loris Karius and end their search for a new goalkeeper
Jurgen Klopp is prepared to give Loris Karius another chance after Liverpool FC were priced out of deals to sign Alisson Becker and Jan Oblak, according to David Maddock.
The Reds have been widely tipped to sign a new goalkeeper in the summer transfer window to improve their options in goal ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Liverpool FC were thought to be in the market to sign AS Roma goalkeeper Alisson, who has been impressing as Brazil’s number one at the World Cup.
However, La Liga giants Real Madrid and FA Cup winners Chelsea FC are also interested in the South American to drive his asking price up.
Atletico Madrid shot stopper Oblak has been touted as another option to take over the reins from Karius in the Liverpool FC goal ahead of the new Premier League season.
Stoke City’s England international Jack Butland is a less glamorous option to replace Karius following the Potters’ relegation to the Championship.
Daily Mirror reporter Maddock has suggested that Karius could be set for a reprieve despite his disastrous performance in the Champions League final.
Maddock wrote on Twitter: “Jurgen Klopp ready to back Loris Karius – will refuse to panic in search for new keeper, still has belief in him despite CL nightmare. No progress with Oblak or Alisson, now prepared to go into season with Karius, and front up criticism.”
Karius made two big mistakes in Liverpool FC’s 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in May.
