Daily Mirror reporter David Maddock sheds light on Mohamed Salah's new five-year deal with Liverpool FC
Mohamed Salah’s new contract is worth £10m a year and is set to run until 2023, according to journalist David Maddock.
The Egypt international has put pen to paper on a new deal to deter potential suitors from testing Liverpool FC’s resolve in the summer transfer window.
Salah had been reportedly attracting interest from La Liga duo FC Barcelona and Real Madrid in recent months following his incredible debut season.
The 25-year-old scored 32 goals in his first Premier League season to finish at the top of the goal-scoring charts and the African forward won the PFA player of the year award.
Salah netted 10 times in the Champions League to reach the final before he suffered a dislocated left shoulder in a 3-1 loss to Real Madrid in the Kiev showpiece.
Daily Mirror reporter Maddock shed light on the details of Salah’s new five-year deal at the five-time European champions.
Maddock wrote on his Twitter page: “MO Salah has agreed a new £10m a year contract that will keep him at Anfield until 2023. There is NO release clause in the contract which will take him beyond his 30th birthday.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last season to secure a spot in the Champions League in successive season.
The Reds haven’t won the Premier League title but finished in second place in 2002, 2009 and 2014 under Gerard Houllier, Rafael Benitez and Brendan Rodgers.
