Jurgen Klopp told Liverpool FC need to sign 24-year-old to complement Naby Keita
Phil Thompson wants Liverpool FC to sign Nabil Fekir to complement new signing Naby Keita
Phil Thompson believes Nabil Fekir would be a good addition to the Liverpool FC team to complement Naby Keita in the middle of the park.
The France international has been linked with a move to Liverpool FC over the past couple of months but a deal has failed to materialise so far.
Fekir was thought to be close to a move to Liverpool FC ahead of the World Cup after the Merseyside outfit were reported to have agreed a fee with Lyon.
The attacker travelled to Liverpool FC for a medical with the Reds before the deal fell through due to concerns about a long-standing knee problem.
Speculation has suggested that the 18-time English champions could rekindle their interest in the France playmaker this summer.
Former Liverpool FC defender Thompson would welcome the addition of Fekir to the Liverpool FC side in the current transfer window.
“We’ve seen Naby Keita come in and the Nabil Fekir deal may still happen,” Thompson told Sky Sports.
“Keita is a player that we’ve needed and Fekir would add more goals from behind.
“So you can see Jurgen’s thought process. It’s going to be another exciting season for Liverpool.”
Guinea international Naby Keita has also linked up with the Liverpool FC team-mates following his £48m switch from RB Leipzig.
The Reds signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £40m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco last month.
Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in successive seasons under former Borussia Dormtund head coach Jurgen Klopp.
