Insider tips Liverpool FC to sign 24-year-old France star this summer
Ligue 1 expert Joseph Johnson refuses to rule out Liverpool FC signing Nabil Fekir from Lyon this summer
Liverpool FC have a good shot at signing Lyon playmaker Nabil Fekir this summer, Joseph Johnson has claimed.
The 18-time English champions were close to the signing of the Lyon captain at the start of June before the World Cup got underway.
Liverpool FC were thought to be willing to pay in excess of £60m to make Fekir their second summer signing following Fabinho’s arrival.
Reports in the English media suggested that Fekir travelled to Melwood training ground with view to a move to the Champions League runners up.
Fekir was rumoured to have selected his squad number before the 24-year-old failed a medical to prompt Liverpool FC to renegotiate a deal.
French football expert Johnson believes Fekir could still complete a move to Liverpool FC this summer.
“There is a high chance he ends up at Liverpool,” Johnson told the Transfer Talk podcast. “Liverpool will have to be patient until after the World Cup.”
Fekir scored 18 times and made eight assists in Ligue 1 last season to attract interest from the 18-time English champions.
Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev last month.
The Reds finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last term to secure a spot in the Champions League in successive seasons.
