Liverpool FC given deadline to sign 24-year-old France star – report
Liverpool FC have been given two weeks to sign France and Lyon star Nabil Fekir, according to a report
Liverpool FC have been given a two-week deadline to sign Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir, according to a report in France.
French newspaper L’Equipe, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that Lyon want to sort out their captain’s future before the start of the Ligue 1 season.
The same article states that Liverpool FC retained an interest in signing Fekir despite the addition of Xherdan Shaqiri to Jurgen Klopp’s squad in a £13m deal from Stoke City.
According to the same story, the Merseyside outfit were close to completing a deal for Fekir before the World Cup but a deal fell through due to concerns about a knee problem.
Fekir was part of Didier Deschamps’ France squad that won the World Cup thanks to a 4-2 win over Croatia last weekend.
The Reds have been heavily linked with a move to sign Lyon attacker Fekir in the summer transfer window.
The Merseyside outfit have funds to spend after the Reds sold Philippe Coutinho in a £142m deal from FC Barcelona in the January transfer window.
However, Fekir’s proposed move to Liverpool FC fell through due to the Reds’ reported concerns about a knee injury despite the attacker picking out his squad number.
