Journalist claims Liverpool FC haven’t contacted Lyon about rekindling Nabil Fekir deal
Reporter David Maddock rules out Liverpool FC rekindling a deal for Nabil Fekir during the World Cup
Liverpool FC haven’t made contact with Lyon attacker Nabil Fekir about rekindling a summer deal, according to journalist David Maddock.
Fekir was thought to be on the brink of a move to the Premier League side last month after Liverpool FC reached an agreement with the Ligue 1 club.
However, the France international’s proposed switch fell through due to concerns about his medical following a long-standing knee problem.
Liverpool FC, though, continued to be linked with a fresh approach to sign the World Cup star despite the collapse of the deal earlier this summer.
Fekir scored 18 times in Ligue 1 last season to help Lyon finish in the top three behind champions Paris Saint-Germain and AS Monaco.
Daily Mirror reporter Maddock shed light on Liverpool FC’s potential bid to sign the French playmaker in the current transfer window.
Maddock wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool have had NO contact with Lyon since talks over a £53m deal for Nabil Fekir broke down. #LFC don’t envisage any progress with any further transfer targets until after the World Cup.”
Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot in the Premier League last season to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.
The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League final last term following goals from Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema.
Liverpool FC haven’t won the Premier League title and their last top-flight success came in 1990.
