Liverpool FC could still rekindle a deal to sign Lyon star Nabil Fekir in the summer transfer window, Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth insists.

The Reds were close to signing the France international in a big-money deal from the Ligue 1 side in the current transfer market.

Fekir was reported to have travelled to Liverpool FC to undergo a medical, while the attacker even selected his shirt number at the Merseyside outfit.

The 24-year-old’s transfer collapsed after the Reds attempted to renegotiate a deal to sign the French playmaker due to concerns about his knee.

Fekir is currently on duty at the World Cup after France reached the final where les Bleus will face Croatia.

Sky Sports News reporter Sheth believes Liverpool FC could still sign Fekir despite the deal falling through earlier in the summer transfer window.

“Nabil Fekir was on. Then it was off,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast.

“Noises coning from France suggest that it might not be dead in the water. There could be more movement….”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth spot in the Premier League table last term to ensure their continued participation in the Champions League.

The Reds lost 3-1 to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the Champions League in Kiev back in May following goals from Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale.
