Liverpool FC haven’t made an official bid to sign Stoke City forward Xherdan Shaqiri, according to a report in England.
The Liverpool Echo, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Reds haven’t submitted an offer to sign the Switzerland international despite being linked with a move over the past few weeks.
The same article states that Shaqiri is available to sign in a cut-price deal following Stoke’s relegation to the Championship after a disappointing campaign for both the player and the club last term.
According to the same story, Liverpool FC are facing competition from Manchester United in the Switzerland international ahead of the new Premier League season given his experience at the top level.
The Liverpool Echo goes on to suggest that Shaqiri is eager to remain in the Premier League following his four-season stint at Stoke before their demotion to England’s second tier competition.
Shaqiri is on holiday following Switzerland’s World Cup campaign which ended with a loss to Sweden in the round of 16.
Liverpool FC have signed Brazil international Fabinho in a £39m deal from Ligue 1 side AS Monaco in the summer transfer window.
The Reds have also added Guinea international Naby Keita to their squad this summer.
