Gareth Bale has been urged to leave Real Madrid and sign for Manchester United this summer by Mickey Thomas.

The Wales international’s future has been a constant source of speculation this summer after he admitted that he would be considering his situation in the wake of Real Madrid’s Champions League final win over Liverpool FC back in May.

Bale found his first-team opportunities at Real Madrid to be somewhat restricted under Zinedine Zidane last season and his lack of playing time has prompted uncertainty about his future.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Bale after Real Madrid appointed Julen Lopetegui as the club’s new manager following Zidane’s exit.

Now though, former Manchester United and Wales star Thomas seems to think that Bale would be wise to ignore reported interest from Bayern Munich and seal a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Thomas is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “He’s got enough money. Surely now it’s not how much he can earn.

“His CV would be enriched and complete with a Premier League winner’s medal. I’d argue that is worth more than all the money he gets.

“OK, I know he has won La Liga and the Champions League with Real Madrid, but he hasn’t won the Premier League. I wouldn’t want to finish a career like his without a Premier League winner’s medal.

“Unfortunately, he’s had Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar blocking his path to becoming the best player in the world.

“If he came to England and started doing the business, winning trophies in this country, then it will have been the perfect career.

“He could go to Germany and play for Bayern Munich, but it’s time to prove himself in the Premier League.

“I don’t think there’s any chance of him returning to Tottenham, so there’s a great opportunity for my old club Manchester United to sign him. There’s been speculation virtually every summer about Bale coming to Old Trafford.

“This time is probably the best chance of it happening.”

Manchester United are thought to be on the lookout for a host of new signings this summer as they look to assemble a squad capable of winning the title next season.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last term.
