Manchester United have informed Leicester City that they want to sign Harry Maguire before the end of the transfer window, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Red Devils are keen on a move to bring the centre-half to Old Trafford this summer following his sparkling performances for England at this summer’s World Cup in Russia.

Manchester United are thought to still be on the lookout for a number of new signings as Jose Mourinho prepares for his third season in charge of the Red Devils.

According to the same report, the 25-year-old defender is confident that he will move to Manchester United before the transfer deadline on 9 August.

The article claims that Leicester City are ready to up his wages to more than £100,000 a week, but the defender is likely to be tempted by a move away from the King Power Stadium.

According to the same story, Mourinho is keen to add another quality defender to his squad despite having plenty of options at the back.

Mourinho will be looking for his Manchester United team to challenge for the Premier League title next season as they look to try and land it for the first time since 2013.
