Man United boss Jose Mourinho opens up about Ivan Perisic
Jose Mourinho explains why he is such a big fan of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has admitted that he is a huge admirer of Inter Milan winger Ivan Perisic.
The Red Devils were heavily linked with a move to sign the Croatia international throughout the summer transfer window last year and there has also been fresh speculation linking him with Manchester United in recent months.
However, there has been no official confirmation of Manchester United’s interest in signing him and he remains an Inter Milan player as things stand.
Perisic played a key role in helping Croatia to beat England and knock the Three Lions out of the World Cup at the semi-final stage on Wednesday night.
The 29-year-old netted the equaliser for the Croats before Mario Mandzukic netted an extra-time winner for his side.
Mourinho was always known to be a keen admirer of Perisic, and now the Manchester United boss has explained just why he rates him so highly.
Speaking during Russia Today‘s coverage of Wednesday’s game, Mourinho said: “Perisic is the kind of winger that is different to the others.
“Normally you look at wingers and they are just fast and creative. But he is also physical, very physical. Fantastic in the air.
“So the way he wins that ball in the air [for Mandzukic’s goal] and puts the ball into that space is only possible if you are very, very physical and dominant over defenders.
“So he was amazing by going there and winning that ball in the air.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next season.
