Man United will have to spend £80m on signing 25-year-old – report
Man United will have to make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in history if they want to sign the England star, say reports
Manchester United will have to make Harry Maguire the most expensive defender in history if they want to sign the England international this summer, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Star is reporting that the Red Devils will have to shell out a staggering £80m if they want to be able to sign the Leicester City defender this summer.
Maguire has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks after his stellar performances for England at the World Cup reportedly sparked the Red Devils’ interest.
According to the same story, Manchester United face a “battle” in trying to sign the 25-year-old centre-half this summer as they bid to try and strengthen their defence ahead of next term.
The same article claims that Manchester United chief Ed Woodward has already approached Leicester City about the possibility of signing Maguire this summer.
However, the story also says that the Foxes will only consider letting Maguire leave the King Power Stadium this summer if he makes it clear to them that he wants to leave – and for a fee of around £80m.
Manchester United have so far only made three new signings this summer after having tied up deals for Fred, Diogo Dalot and Lee Grant.
