Manchester United have had a €50m bid for Alessio Romagnoli rejected by AC Milan, according to reports in Italy.
Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, is reporting that the Red Devils have had an official offer for the 23-year-old turned down by the Italian club.
The same report says that AC Milan are indeed open to selling the defender this summer, but they felt that Manchester United’s opening offer for the centre-half was not a fair price.
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for defensive reinforcements this summer as they look to try and build a team capable of challenging for the Premier League title next season.
According to the same story, AC Milan would be seriously tempted into selling Romagnoli to the Red Devils if Manchester United are able to match their asking price, which is not specified.
Manchester United have so far completed only two signings this summer, after having wrapped up deals for both Brazilian midfielder Fred and Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot.
The Red Devils ended up in second place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy in Jose Mourinho’s second campaign in charge at Old Trafford.
