Duncan Castles delivers the latest update on Man United's link to Juventus full-back Alex Sandro
Manchester United are at a disadvantage in their race to sign Alex Sandro from Juventus this summer because they have not been able to offload Luke Shaw, according to Duncan Castles.
The Red Devils have been linked with a move to sign the Juventus full-back this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to strengthen his options at left-back ahead of the new campaign.
Manchester United are thought to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to bolster their squad ahead of Mourinho’s third season in charge.
Shaw’s future has been a constant source of speculation in recent months due to his lack of playing time under Mourinho at Old Trafford.
Now, Sunday Times reporter Castles has revealed that the Red Devils are unlikely to complete a deal to sign Sandro unless they are able to offload Shaw.
Speaking on the Transfer Window podcast, Castles said: “Man United have a major disadvantage because they haven’t been able to get Shaw out the door.
“They have three weeks less to get the deal through the door.”
Manchester United will be looking to at least challenge for the Premier League title next season as they aim to win the trophy for the first time since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.
The Red Devils ended up in second place and without a trophy under Mourinho last term.
