The Premier League giants have regularly been reported as big admirers of Sandro over the past 12 months.
England international Luke Shaw has struggled to impress on a consistent basis since his move to Old Trafford from Southampton in 2014.
Manchester United were thought to be facing competition from Chelsea FC for Sandro but the Blues’ interest appears to have waned.
Indeed, Sandro is unlikely to move to the west London side given the current uncertainty surrounding their manager Antonio Conte.
As a result, Manchester United are in pole position to sign Sandro if they can agree to a fee with Juve.
Sunday Times reporter Castles explained why Manchester United have been unable to get a deal for Sandro over the line despite reaching an agreement with the Brazilian defender.
“Man United want Alex Sandro,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast. “They have put a deal in place with the player.
“The player wants to come. Juve are holding out for upwards of 60m euros. They see the market and they want to cash in.”
Manchester United have already signed one Brazilian this summer after the Red Devils signed Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk in the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils have also improved their defensive options with the addition of Diogo Dalot in a £20m switch from Portuguese outfit FC Porto.
