Director replies when asked about Man United interest in Croatia star
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic opens up about interest in Ante Rebic from Man United and Spurs
Eintracht Frankfurt would be willing to entertain bids for Manchester United target Ante Rebic this summer, according to the club’s sporting director.
The Croatia international is attracting interest from a host of Europe’s top clubs in the summer transfer window following his impressive World Cup performances.
Tottenham Hotspur were initially linked with a move to sign the defensive midfielder but Spurs face competition for the Croatian’s signature.
Premier League runners up Manchester United are rumoured to have enetered the race to sign Rebic ahead of the new Premier League campaign.
Napoli, who missed out on the signing of Jean Michael Seri as Jorginho prepares to move to Chelsea FC, have been touted as suitors for Rebic, too.
Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic appeared to open the door for Manchester United and Spurs to make an offer for the talented midfielder this summer.
“I am very happy about the success of Ante Rebic with the Croatian national team,” Bobic told Sport 1.
“The players and the coaching team are watching the World Cup games together in the training camp in the USA and are especially excited about Rebic.
“So far there are no offers available and we’re planning a steady season with Ante Rebic for the new season.
“Of course we know that a lot can happen when a big club makes an offer. ‘We cannot compete economically with the big ones, but that’s nothing new.”
Manchester United have signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Red Devils have also spent £17m on Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot from FC Porto to bolster Mourinho’s defensive options.
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season but lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley.
