Bayern Munich have remained tight-lipped when asked about the possibility of Manchester United forward Anthony Martial completing a move to the Allianz Arena.

The France international is thought to be eager to leave Old Trafford this summer in order to secure regular first-team football following a frustrating spell under Jose Mourinho.

Martial has struggled to convince Jose Mourinho that he is worthy of a first-team place due in part to his inconsistent performances on the winger in the Manchester United team.

The 22-year-old paid the price for his unconvincing displays after Didier Deschamps omitted Martial from his France squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

Martial was a big hit at Manchester United in his first season in the Premier League following his £36m move to the Red Devils from French side Lyon in the 2015 summer transfer window.

He scored on his debut in a 3-1 win against their bitter rivals Liverpool FC before he went on to score an additional 18 goals under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal.

Recent reports have suggested that Bayern could look to tempt the France attacker to Bavaria in the summer transfer window.

However, Bayern sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic refused to indicate whether a deal for Martial was on the cards.

“These things we discuss internally,” Salihamidzic is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror. “If there is something to tell you, we will do that.”
