German reporter rules out Bayern signing Man United star
Bayern Munich won't sign Anthony Martial from Manchester United this summer, according to a report
Bayern Munich won’t sign Anthony Martial from Manchester United in the summer transfer window, according to German reporter Christian Falk.
The France international was left out of Didier Deschamps’ World Cup squad for Russia 2018 following a frustrating campaign at Old Trafford.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho hasn’t been afraid to criticise Martial for his lacklusture performances despite the 22-year-old’s impressive first season at Old Trafford.
Martial scored 19 times in all competitions, including a goal on his debut in a 3-1 win over bitter rivals Liverpool FC, to thrive under Mourinho’s predecessor Louis van Gaal.
However, Mourinho has used the French forward sparingly since taking over the reins of the 20-time English champions from Van Gaal back in May 2016.
Martial has been linked with a potential return to Ligue 1 with champions Paris Saint-Germain in the current transfer market.
Bayern Munich have also emerged as contenders to sign the 22-year-old forward, while Manchester United’s Premier League rivals Chelsea F and Tottenham Hotspur are also rumoured to be interested in Martial.
However, Bild reporter Falk has ruled out Bayern signing Martial from Manchester United this summer.
Asked by one Twitter user whether the Bundesliga champions would sign Martial, Falk replied: “No. The club has decided that there are enough players for the Wings in the squad @FCBayern.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season.
