Anthony Martial wants to leave Manchester United in the 2018 summer transfer window, journalist Keith Downie has claimed.

The France international has grown increasingly frustrated at Manchester United since Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Louis van Gaal’s successor.

Martial has struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Red Devils team over the past season to raise questions about his future.

The 22-year-old was a big hit in his first season at Manchester United under Van Gaal after a return of 19 goals in all competitions.

The French forward has been linked with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain and Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Sky Sports News reporter Downie claimed that Martial is desperate to leave the 20-time English champions this summer.

“He has decided he wants to go,” Downie told the Transfer Talk podcast.

“He was the next big thing…. His career has stagnated. He needs to get out of there while he can.”

Martial has scored 24 times in 86 games in the Premier League over the past three seasons under two different managers at Old Trafford.

The Manchester United striker has won the FA Cup, the League Cup and the Europa League since his £36m move to Old Trafford from AS Monaco in 2015.
