FC Barcelona are set to beat Manchester United to the signing of Sevilla defender Clement Lenglet, according to a report in England.

The Sun is reporting that Manchester United are set to be disappointed in the race to sign the impressive France international in the 2018 summer transfer window.

The same article states that the 23-year-old is set to choose La Liga champions FC Barcelona over Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United outfit.

According to the same story, the Catalan side are set to spend £20m on the French defender to improve their options at the back amid uncertainty surrounding Samuel Umtiti’s future.

Manchester United have already signed Brazil international Fred from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk in a £50m deal this summer.

The Red Devils have also brought in Portuguese full-back Diogo Dalot in a £17m switch from FC Porto to improve Mourinho’s options at the back.

Manchester United finished the 2017-18 season without silverware following a second-placed finish behind Premier League champions Manchester City.

The Red Devils ended up 19 points adrift of the Citizens to underline the gap between the derby rivals.

Manchester United lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley back in May following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
