Jermain Defoe sends message to reported Man United target
England striker Jermain Defore urges Man United target Gareth Bale to return to Premier League this summer
Jermain Defoe has urged Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale to return to the Premier League this summer.
The Wales international is being linked with a move away from Real Madrid in the 2018 summer transfer window following a frustrating La Liga campaign.
Bale was unable to hold down a regular starting spot in the Real Madrid team under Zinedine Zidane in the 2017-18 season.
The 28-year-old left his mark on the Champions League final after he came off the bench to score twice to help Real Madrid to ease to a 3-1 win against Liverpool FC.
Bale hinted that his time was up at The Bernabeu in the immediate aftermath of their Champions League triumph.
Real Madrid have since appointed former Spanish head coach Julen Lopetegui as Zidane’s replacement to offer Bale a lifeline in the Spanish capital.
Former Spurs striker Defoe believes Bale would be suited to the Premier League if the Wales international decides to return.
“I’d love to see him back in the Premier League,” Defoe told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“There is talk of Chelsea, Liverpool and Man United. More Man United than any other club. The Premier League suits him. He would give the league a massive buzz.”
Bale won the 2013 PFA player of the year award for his incredible performances in the Real Madrid team.
Real Madrid signed the Welsh forward in an £85m deal from Tottenham in the 2013 summer transfer window.
