Insider names Man United as one of five clubs in race to sign Gareth Bale
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth says Manchester United are one of five clubs who could sign Gareth Bale
Manchester United are one of five clubs that could afford to sign Gareth Bale from Real Madrid, according to Dharmesh Sheth.
The 29-year-old attacker has been tipped to leave Real Madrid in the 2018 summer transfer window following a stop-start season.
The Welsh forward struggled to hold down a regular starting spot in the Real Madrid team under Zinedine Zidane in the 2017-18 season.
However, the 29-year-old put himself in the shop window with a brilliant performance from the bench in the Champions League final.
Bale scored twice to help Real Madrid to ease to a 3-1 win against Liverpool FC in the Champions League showpiece.
Real Madrid have since appointed former Spanish head coach Julen Lopetegui as Zidane’s replacement to offer Bale a lifeline at The Bernabeu.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth named the European clubs that could come up with the funds to sign the Wales international this summer.
“Only a few clubs can afford Bale,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “PSG, Barcelona and then we look at the Premier League.
“You’d say the three who potentially could bring in Chelsea FC, Man City and Man United.”
Bale moved to Real Madrid from Tottenham in an £85m deal in the 2013 summer transfer window after he won the PFA player of the year award.
Manchester United signed Chile international Alexis Sanchez in a swap deal from Arsenal.
