Manchester United’s hopes of signing Gareth Bale this summer are set to end in disappointment because the Wales star is set to stay at Real Madrid, according to reports.

The Guardian, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that Bale has decided to stay at Real Madrid because he is set to be told that he will be made the main man to replace Cristiano Ronaldo at the Bernabeu.

Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move to bring Bale to Old Trafford this summer as they look to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title.

The 28-year-old’s future at Real Madrid has been a constant source of speculation since he admitted that he wasn’t sure about his future following the Champions League final win over Liverpool FC back in May.

However, it is now being claimed that Bale is set to be made the main man at Real Madrid following Ronaldo’s transfer to Juventus.

Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a host of new signings this summer as they bid to build a squad capable of winning the Premier League title next term.

The Red Devils have so far brought in Diogo Dalot, Fred and Lee Grant as Jose Mourinho looks to build a strong squad at Old Trafford.
