Manchester United are ready to cough up £65m to sign World Cup star Harry Maguire from Leicester City, according to a report in England.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Red Devils are ready to make Maguire their most expensive defender following his performances in Russia.

The same article states that Manchester United are prepared to give the 25-year-old a huge pay increase to secure Maguire’s signature this summer.

According to the same story, Leicester are ready to give the England defender a £30,000 pay increase and the 2016 Premier League champions are confident Maguire will remain a Foxes star when they meet Manchester United in their Premier League opener.

Maguire was a revelation for the England national team during the World Cup as he impressed alongside Kyle Walker and John Stones in Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions team.

The Leicester star got on the score sheet in England’s 2-0 win over Sweden in the World Cup quarter-finals before a 2-1 extra-time loss to Croatia in the last four.

Manchester United have signed Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant in the summer transfer window.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
