Manchester United have identified a number of centre-haves to target should the Red Devils struggle to get a deal over the line for Harry Maguire this summer, according to a report in England.

The Daily Mail, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Red Devils are looking at Maguire but Leicester are demanding £65m for the England international after his performances at the World Cup.

The same article states that AC Milan defender Leonardo Bonucci and Tottenham Hotspur centre-half Toby Alderweireld are potential alternatives to Maguire in the current transfer window.

According to the same story, Manchester United will have to cough up a huge fee regardless of whether the Red Devils eventually sign Alderweireld, Bonucci or Maguire.

The Red Devils boss has been reluctant to place his faith in Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof.

Maguire was a revelation at the World Cup as the Leicester star helped England to reach the semi-finals.

Manchester United have signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk.

The Red Devils have also added Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot to their squad in a £17m deal before completing a deal for Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant.
