Manchester United should think twice about signing Leicester defender Harry Maguire, according to ESPN reporter Mark Ogden

Harry Maguire could lack the pedigree to become a Manchester United player, ESPN reporter Mark Ogden has claimed.

The England international has been linked with a potential move to the Red Devils in the 2018 summer transfer window.

Maguire was something of a revelation at the World Cup following his impressive performances for Gareth Southgate’s team.

Indeed, the Leicester defender scored in England’s 2-0 win over Sweden in the World Cup quarter-final before a 2-1 loss to Croatia in the last four.

Manchester United are in the market to sign a centre-half but Jose Mourinho has been left frustrated so far this summer.

Leicester are thought to be asking for around £65m for Maguire, which would make the Englishman Man United’s most expensive defender.

However, ESPN reporter Ogden questioned whether Maguire would be the right choice for the 20-time English champions.

“He wants a centre-half who can bring experience and composure,” Ogden told ESPN FC.

“He definitely wants one. I am not sure Maguire is a Man United player. I am not sure he is a Champions League player.”

Manchester United have recruited Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant this summer.

Mourinho’s side finished in second place in the Premier League table last season to finish above Spurs and Liverpool FC.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season.
