Italian newspaper Tuttosport, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Red Devils will have to cough up a transfer fee in excess of £53m to sign their long-term target.
The same article states that the Red Devils are optimistic that Perisic’s agent, Fali Ramadani, can help the 20-time English champions reach an agreement with the Serie A club.
According to the same story, Manchester United would be prepared to use Italy international Matteo Darmian as a makeweight in a deal to sign the World Cup star.
Worryignly for Manchester United, Tuttosport believe Perisic’s initial valuation of £53m has almost certainly increased after his impressive performances at Russia 2018.
Manchester United attempted to sign Perisic in the 2016 and 2017 summer transfer windows but the Red Devils couldn’t reach an agreement with Inter Milan.
Manchester United have already signed Brazilian midfielder Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.
The Red Devils have also strengthened their full-back options with the addition of Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto.
