Sky Sports News reporter claims Man United could make late bid for Bayern star
Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge believes Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng could move to Man United in a late transfer
Sky Sports News reporter Michael Bridge has refused to rule out Bayern Munich defender Jerome Boateng moving to Manchester United this summer.
The Germany international is facing an uncertain future at the Bavarian club following the appointment of a new manager at the Allianz Arena.
Boateng endured a forgettable World Cup in Russia after he performed poorly in Germany’s 1-0 loss to Mexico before he was sent off in a 2-1 win over Sweden.
He watched from the stands as Germany lost 2-0 to South Korea in their final World Cup group-stage fixture to crash out of the competition at the first hurdle.
Boateng has previous experience of the Premier League after the World Cup winner spent one season at Manchester City before he returned to Bundesliga.
Sky Sports News journalist Bridge addresssed speculation suggestin that Boateng could become a Manchester United player this summer.
“Tentative rumours around his future at Munich,” Bridge told the Transfer Talk podcast.
“Fans aren’t happy with what he has been saying. Man United do want a centre-half.
“It would be a late transfer if anything was to happen.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season to secure their best finish since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
