The Manchester Evening News is reporting that the Red Devils are keen on a deal to sign the World Cup star in the summer transfer window.
The same article states that Mourinho desperately wanted to sign the Croatia international in 2017 after being a long-term admirer of the Inter Milan winger.
According to the same story, the Portuguese head coach had kept tabs on Perisic during his spells at Borussia Dortmund, Wolfsburg and Club Brugge.
The Manchester Evening News goes on to claim that Mourinho even went as far as asking Croatian legends Mijatovic and Suker for their opinions on the 29-year-old winger.
The Red Devils are rumoured to have renewed their interest in the Inter star this summer following his exceptional performances at the World Cup.

The Manchester United target netted a superb goal to cancel out Antoine Griezmann’s opening goal in the World Cup final before a 4-2 loss to les Bleus.
