Journalist claims Jose Mourinho wants Man United to make key signing this summer
Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth is tipping Manchester United to sign a centre-half this summer
Jose Mourinho is eager to sign a new centre-half to improve his Manchester United team this summer, Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth says.
The Red Devils are looking to overhaul their title rivals Manchester City next term after Mourinho’s side finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
Manchester United ended up 19 points adrift of Pep Guardiola’s Citizens side to highlight the gap between the two derby rivals.
The 20-time English champions have already signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk earlier in the summer transfer window.
Manchester United have also brought in Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot in a £17m switch from FC Porto to improve Mourinho’s options at full-back.
Victor Lindelof struggled in his first season at Old Trafford after a £30m switch from Benfica last summer, while Ivory Coast international Eric Bailly struggled with injury problems.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth expects Manchester United to look to sign a centre-half before the close of the summer transfer window.
“It looks like a centre-half could be a priority for Mourinho,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “There is a chance they could go in for a centre-half.”
Manchester United were 1-0 winners against Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last term following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.
