Kostas Manolas drops hint about Man United transfer switch
Koastas Manolas speaks out about a potential move to Manchester United this summer, according to a report
Kostas Manolas has hinted that a move to Manchester United could be on the cards this summer.
Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has been linked with a host of centre-halves in the summer transfer window as the Red Devils look to improve their defence ahead of the new Premier League season.
Sweden international Victor Lindelof struggled to impress during his first season at Manchester United after the Red Devils signed the 23-year-old from Portuguese side Benfica in a £30m deal.
Eric Bailly was impressive during the 2016-17 Premier League season but the Ivory Coast international struggled with injuries and a loss of form last term to lose out on his first-team place.
As a result, Mourinho has been forced to rely upon England duo Phil Jones and Chris Smalling at the heart of the defence despite previously hinting at his reservations about the duo.
Greek defender Manolas has been linked with a potential switch to Manchester United as well as FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
Asked about transfer speculation linking the Greece international with a move away from AS Roma, the defender is quoted as saying by the Daily Star:
“It’s only natural you want to play for the biggest clubs, like Barcelona, Manchester United, PSG and Bayern Munich.
“I think I could make the difference anywhere I went, even at Barcelona, although I’ve never been close to a move to the Blaugrana.”
Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last term.
