The Red Devils have been linked with a move to sign the 35-year-old goalkeeper from the relegated Premier League side this summer.
Manchester United have the Premier League’s best goalkeeper in their ranks in the shape of Spain number one David De Gea.
Argentina international Sergio Romero is De Gea’s understudy, while Joel Perreira is currently third-choice under the Portuguese head coach.
However, Manchester United are thought to be keen to send Perreira out on loan next season to ensure the promising shot stopper gets more experience.
Sky Sports News reporter Sheth claimed that Manchester United are in talks to sign Grant in the current transfer window.
“This is a real surprising one,” Sheth told the Transfer Talk podcast. “We are told Man United are in talks about signing Lee Grant from Stoke.”
Manchester United finished in second spot in the Premier League table last term but 19 points adrift of Manchester City.
Grant has played for Derby County, Sheffield Wednesday and Burnley during his professional career so far.
The former England Under-21 international has made 508 appearances.
