Manchester United are ready to rival Chelsea FC for the signing of Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to a report in England.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Red Devils boss is a keen admirer of the Serbia international following his performances in the summer transfer window.

The same article states Mourinho believes Milinkovic-Savic could inject some additional creativity into his midfield ahead of the new Premier League season.

According to the same story, the Lazio star is already in high demand this simmer and Manchester United would face competition to sign the Serbian playmaker.

Milinkovic-Savic scored 12 times in 35 games in Serie A last season to help Lazio secure a place in the Europa League after the Eagles finished in fifth spot in the table.

The Serbian star moved to Lazio from Belgian side Genk in the 2015 summer transfer window.

Manchester United have signed Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and Stoke City goalkeeper Lee Grant in the summer transfer window so far.

The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last term after Manchester United ended up finishing above title rivals Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool FC and Chelsea FC.
