Duncan Castles tips Man United to rekindle interest in Chelsea FC star
Manchester United could renew their interest in Chelsea FC star Willian this summer, according to Duncan Castles
Manchester United could renew their efforts to sign Chelsea FC star Willian this summer, according to Sunday Times reporter Duncan Castles.
The Brazil international is facing an uncertain future at the west London side after falling out of favour under Antonio Conte.
Willian was a late substitute in Chelsea FC’s 1-0 win over Manchester United in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season.
The South American took to Instagram to have a subtle dig at his Italian head coach following their cup triumph.
Manchester United are rumoured to be interested in a potential swoop to sign Willian from the 2017 Premier League champions.
Conte was axed as Chelsea FC boss on Thursday evening which could provide the Brazilian a lifeline at Stamford Bridge ahead of the new season.
Sunday Times reporter Castles believes there is still a chance that Manchester United make a fresh approach to sign Willian from their bitter rivals this summer.
“They haven’t been able to get Willian to commit to a new contract,” Castles told the Transfer Window podcast.
“His contract is down to two years. Man United might come back in this summer. FC Barcelona are now involved.”
Manchester United have already signed Willian’s compatriot Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainain Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk this summer.
Willian won the Premier League and the League Cup under Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho at Chelsea FC before the Portuguese coach was sacked in 2015.
