Manchester United are interested in Toby Alderweireld, Harry Maguire and Raphael Varane, according to ESPN reporter Mark Ogden.

The Red Devils have endured something of a frustrating transfer window so far after adding just three new players to their squad.

Jose Mourinho is thought to be keen to sign a centre-half to improve his options at the back ahead of the new Premier League season.

Manchester United have been linked with Alderweireld amid uncertainty surrounding his future at Tottenham Hotspur.

However, the Red Devils have refused to meet Spurs’ £75m price tag given the Belgian defender has 12 months left to run on his current deal.

World Cup stars Maguire and Varane have also been listed as potential canidates to improve Manchester United’s centre-half options.

ESPN reporter Ogden claimed that Manchester United boss Mourinho is desperate to sign a centre-half this summer.

“He wants a centre-half,” Ogden told ESPN FC. “Alderweireld, Maguire and Varane have been mentioned.“

Manchester United have recruited Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Fred, FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot and veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant this summer.
