Manchester United need to sign a centre-half, winger and a forward before the close of the summer transfer window, Daily Record reporter Ian McGarry has claimed.

The Red Devils have endured an underwhelming transfer window so far after Manchester United added a mere three players to their squad that finished in second place last term.

Manchester United have signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk earlier this summer.

The Red Devils bolstered their full-back options in a £17m deal from FC Porto defender Diogo Dalot in current transfer market.

England veteran goalkeeper Lee Grant moved to Manchester United in a £1.5m deal from Stoke City to provide cover for David De Gea and Sergio Romero.

Daily Record reporter McGarry believes Manchester United need to make three signings before the close of the transfer window.

“Man United need central defenders,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.

“They need a signing on the right wing. They need someone to replace Martial if he leaves as well.”

Manchester United finished in second place in the Premier League table last season to finish above Spurs and Liverpool FC.

The Red Devils lost 1-0 to Chelsea FC in the FA Cup final at Wembley last season following Eden Hazard’s winner from the penalty spot.

Manchester United haven’t won the Premier League title since the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
