Top 29-year-old is Man United’s No1 transfer priority – report
Man United still have Toby Alderweireld at the top of their transfer wish-list, say reports
Manchester United still have Toby Alderweireld at the top of their transfer wish-list this summer, but the Red Devils also have a list of potential alternatives, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent is reporting that the Red Devils still want to bring the 29-year-old defender to Old Trafford this summer as Jose Mourinho looks to try and bolster his squad ahead of next season.
According to the same story, Manchester United are expecting that their pursuit of Alderweireld will go right until the end of the transfer window, which closes on 9 August.
The article claims that Tottenham want Anthony Martial to be included in the deal, and that Spurs currently value Alderweireld at £55m.
The Belgian defender’s future has been a source of speculation this summer after his lack of playing time for Tottenham Hotspur last term.
Manchester United have so far signed three players this summer but the Red Devils are still believed to be on the lookout for a number of new recruits as they prepare for Mourinho’s third campaign in charge.
The Red Devils finished in second place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy.
