Jose Mourinho told Italy international would suit Man United more than Paul Pogba
Journalist Ian McGarry believes Marco Verratti would be more suited to Man United than Paul Pogba
Marco Verratti would be more suited to Manchester United’s style of play rather than Paul Pogba, Ian McGarry said.
The Italy international has been linked with a potential switch to the Red Devils over the past few days.
Indeed, transfer speculation has suggested that Paris Saint-Germain could use Verratti in a deal to sign Pogba this summer.
PSG are thought to be willing to offer the Italian defensive midfielder as well as cash for Manchester United record signing.
Verratti was a target for Chelsea FC last summer but PSG refused to consider the sale of the popular Italian midfieder.
Pogba, meanwhile, has struggled to recapture his Juventus form since his return to Manchester United in a club record deal in 2016.
Reporter McGarry suggested that Verratti’s move to Manchester United would make sense given Mourinho’s style of play.
“Verratti would be better suited to Man United than Pogba,” McGarry told the Transfer Window podcast.
“I’ve heard Verratti has been offered a new contract because he is valued by Thomas Tuchel.
“I don’t know what Mourinho’s views on Verratti are. He hasn’t been in contention to buy him in the past.”
Manchester United have signed Brazil international Fred in a £52m deal from Ukrainian Premier League champions Shakhtar Donetsk.
The Red Devils have also recruited Diogo Dalot in a £17m deal from FC Porto.
