Man United transfer target to be handed new contract – report
Leicester City are planning to offer Harry Maguire a new deal to ward off interest from Man United, say reports
Leicester City are planning to offer Harry Maguire a new contract worth £75,000 a week to ward off interest from Manchester United, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mail is reporting that the Foxes are preparing to hand the defender a new deal as they look to try and keep hold of the England international.
Maguire earned lots of praise for his strong performances for England at this summer’s World Cup in Russia and he has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent days.
The same report says that Manchester United are considering making a £50m approach as they try and land the defender to bolster their options at the back ahead of next season.
However, it is claimed in the same story that Leicester City are set to open talks with Maguire about getting the defender to commit to a new deal worth around £75,000 a week, with his current wages set at £45,000.
The same report says that Leicester City have known about the interest in Maguire for some time, but that they have no intention of selling the 25-year-old this summer.
Manchester United are believed to be on the lookout for a number of new signings this summer as they look to build a squad capable of winning the title next season.
