David Luiz has taken to social media to reveal his delight at making his first appearance of the new season for Chelsea FC under Maurizio Sarri.

The defender struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team at Stamford Bridge under Antonio Conte last term as he was limited to just nine starts in the top flight for the west London side.

Sarri was officially confirmed as Chelsea FC’s new manager earlier this month as the Blues moved swiftly to bring in a replacement following Antonio Conte’s sacking.

David Luiz will be hoping to be given a new lease of life under new boss Sarri as he looks to try and hold down a regular spot in the first team next season.

And the Brazilian defender looked to be delighted to have gotten a run out on Monday as he featured during the 1-0 pre-season friendly win over Perth in Australia.

David Luiz posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “God is great!!! After more than 6 months, I was so happy to be in the pitch again!! Never give up!! @chelseafc #thankyouPerth #CfCtour #thankyouall”

Chelsea FC will be looking to challenge for the Premier League title next season after their disappointing fifth placed finish last term.

The Blues did manage to end last season on a positive note by beating Manchester United in the FA Cup final back in May.
