Unai Emery refuses to rule out more Arsenal signings
The Arsenal manager hints at further deals in the summer transfer window
Unai Emery has refused to rule out the possibility of Arsenal completing more transfer deals before the close of the summer transfer window.
The Gunners appointed the Spanish head coach at the end of the 2017-18 season after Arsene Wenger stood down following 22 campaigns in charge.
Emery has wasted no time leaving his mark on the Gunners following some swift transfer activity to overhaul the Arsenal squad.
The Gunners started their summer spending with the addition of Switzerland international Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Juventus.
Arsenal have also signed Bayer Leverkusen goalkeeper Bernd Leno in a £20m deal to improve his options in goal.
Borussia Dortmund’s Sokratis Papastathopoulos has moved to Arsenal to improve their centre-half options ahead of the new season.
The Gunners completed a £26m deal for Sampdoria’s Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira before Matteo Guendouzi moved from Nice.
Asked whether Arsenal will make any more signings in the summer transfer window, Emery said:
“I am very happy with how the club is working and we are working every day on how we can improve.
“I am with the players and those who have arrived this week, I am very happy with and I said at the last press conference that if there is an opportunity to try to sign one player, then we are looking.”
Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League.
The Gunners lost 3-0 to Premier League champions Manchester City in the League Cup final to end the season without silverware.
