Kevin Kilbane predicts where Arsenal, Chelsea FC will finish
Former Everton star Kevin Kilbane suggests that Chelsea FC showed promise under a new manager which Arsenal lacked under their own.
Kevin Kilbane has claimed that Arsenal lacked the “togetherness” in Unai Emery’s first game as manager that Chelsea FC showed under new boss Mauricio Sarri.
The Italian head coach took over from Antonio Conte at Chelsea this summer, whilst Emery replaced Arsene Wenger after his 22-year reign in North London, and the two go head-to-head on Saturday at Stamford Bridge.
Former Irish defender Kilbane was quick to criticise the Gunners who lost 2-0 to champions Manchester City last weekend, whilst Chelsea comfortably swept aside Huddersfield Town 3-0.
“Chelsea were much more impressive,” Kilbane told Newstalk.
“They blew Huddersfield away. They responded well to Sarri.
“There seems there is a little bit of togetherness that I didn’t see with Arsenal.”
Emery couldn’t have imagined a tougher start to life at the Emirates and it seems that he will come under the same severe scrutiny that Wenger did.
Arsenal struggled to perform against Man City and failed to build up any momentum going into the clash with Chelsea FC.
The Blues will feel confident ahead of the game as they look to capitalise on continued turmoil at Arsenal and make it two wins out of two in the Sarri reign.
However, detractors will say that what Kilbane has said represents a category error as the sides that Chelsea and Arsenal faced on the opening weekend are competing at opposite ends of the table.
