Steve Nicol believes that Arsenal and Chelsea FC are set to miss out on top-four finishes in the Premier League once again next season.

Both of the London clubs will be aiming to try and break back into the top four next term after they ended up outside of the Champions League qualification spots last season.

Chelsea FC and Arsenal have both changed their managers this summer as they look to try and improve their performances next term.

The Blues ended up in fifth place and won the FA Cup last season, while Arsenal finished sixth and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign in charge.

Both clubs have been relatively busy in the summer transfer window, with Arsenal signing five players and Chelsea FC likely to bring in some more new faces before the transfer deadline.

However, Nicol feels that neither of the two clubs will be strong enough to secure spots in the top four next season.

Speaking to ESPN FC, Nicol simply said: “I think Arsenal and Chelsea miss out [on the top four].”

Chelsea FC won the Premier League in Antonio Conte’s first season at the club but struggled to produce consistent form last term.

Arsenal have not won the title since their famous unbeaten triumph in 2004.
