Ian Wright questions Hector Bellerin’s performances at Arsenal
The Arsenal legend believes Hector Bellerin is struggling in the team
Ian Wright believes Hector Bellerin is being left exposed in Arsenal’s current formation under Unai Emery.
The Spain international has started the season at right-back under his compatriot but Bellerin’s performances have been underwhelming.
Bellerin struggled in the north London side’s 2-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Manchester City in their season opener at The Emirates.
Arsenal were edged out in a 3-2 loss to bitter rivals Chelsea FC at Stamford Bridge earlier this month after Marcos Alonso’s winner.
The Gunners defender has been regularly linked with a move to La Liga giants FC Barcelona since establishing himself as first team player.
Former Arsenal star Wright believes the Gunners defender is looking exposed at the back.
“Bellerin has been left open,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live. “It isn’t looking good from his point of view. He is looking very ropey.”
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04 when Arsenal managed to go the whole season unbeaten.
Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a spot in the Champions League in successive seasons.
The Gunners lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid in the Eurppa League semi-final last term to miss out on a first European trophy under Wenger.
The north London side signed five players in the summer transfer window to improve Emery’s squad.
