Unai Emery urged to drop Arsenal star for Chelsea FC clash
Stewart Robson wants Arsenal omit Mesut Ozil from their team for the trip to Chelsea FC on Saturday
Unai Emery has been urged to drop Mesut Ozil from the Arsenal team for the trip to Chelsea FC, according to Stewart Robson.
The Gunners star became the best paid player at the north London side after Ozil signed a new long-term deal back in February.
The World Cup winner is thought to be a contract worth around £300,000 a week to make him one of the best paid players at Arsenal.
Arsenal haven’t won the Premier League title since Ozil’s arrival from Real Madrid in a £42.5m deal from La Liga side Real Madrid in 2013.
The German playmaker was subdued in Arsenal’s 2-0 loss to Manchester City in their Premier League opener at The Emirates last weekend.
Former Arsenal star Robson urged Emery to consider dropping Ozil in favour of starting France striker Alexandre Lacazette.
“He’d have to be brave,” Robson told ESPN FC. “He’d have to say he isn’t happy with Ozil.
“Get him out of the side. I am not happy with the job he is doing. Ozil would be top of the list.”
Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League place in successive seasons.
The Gunners signed five players in the summer transfer window to revamp their squad under Emery following his appointment back in May.
