Alex Iwobi: What Arsenal life is really like under Unai Emery
Alex Iwobi opens up on what life is like under new Arsenal boss Unai Emery
Alex Iwobi has admitted that Unai Emery is a “demanding” manager but he is enjoying life under the new Arsenal boss.
The Spanish manager is getting used to life as the new boss at The Emirates after Arsene Wenger opted to step down at the end of last season after almost 22 years in charge.
Arsenal have made a disappointing start to the new Premier League season after suffering back to back defeats by Manchester City and Chelsea FC in the top flight.
Iwobi will be hoping to impress new manager Emery at The Emirates as he bids to hold down a regular spot in the first team at the north London club this season.
And the Nigeria international has opened up about how he and his team-mates have been adapting to Emery’s new training methods at the north London club.
Speaking in an interview with Arsenal Player, Iwobi said: “It’s exciting times to be fair.
“Everybody’s enjoying and buying into the new ideas. For me personally, I’m enjoying the new sessions, the new training methods and the new ideas, so I’m enjoying my time with him.
“He demands a lot. He’s a lot more intense, a lot of high pressing and keeping the ball so that it benefits us if we have the ball. It’s good for us, especially the attackers who like to have the ball a lot.
“It’s making me feel a bit sharper, I’m doing things with a bit more intensity. It’s not just for me, though, I feel like I’m helping the team a lot more. It’s benefitting me a lot more.”
Arsenal will be aiming to secure their first Premier League points of the season this weekend when they host West Ham United at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04.
