Stephan Lichtsteiner looked to be in good shape as he tussled for possession with Alexandre Lacazette in Arsenal training this week.

The defender has been getting used to life at Arsenal after having signed for the Gunners on a free transfer as one of Unai Emery’s main signings this summer.

The 34-year-old featured for 55 minutes during Arsenal’s opening weekend defeat by Manchester City earlier this month and he has not featured in the Gunners’ last two Premier League games.

However, the defender looks keen to prove himself as worthy of a regular spot in the first team at The Emirates as he looks to try and impress new boss Emery.

Lichtsteiner posted the picture above on his personal Instagram account and wrote the caption: “Working harder every day! 👍🏻 #COYG #wearethearsenal 🔴.”

Arsenal will be looking to establish themselves as one of the main contenders for a top four finish in the Premier League this season.

The north London side finished in sixth place in the table and without a trophy last term under Arsene Wenger before the Frenchman decided to call time on his career with the Gunners.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League since their unbeaten triumph back in 2003-04.
