Henrikh Mkhitaryan has insisted that he is happy under new manager Unai Emery at Arsenal this season.

The north London side have suffered a stuttering start to the new campaign and the Gunners were beaten 3-2 by Chelsea FC on Saturday to follow up their defeat by Manchester City on the opening weekend of the campaign.

Mkhitaryan has started both of Arsenal’s Premier League games so far this season and he scored a goal and notched up an assist during the defeat by Chelsea FC last weekend.

Emery has been tasked with steering Arsenal back to the top of English football after the Gunners ended up in sixth place in the table and without a trophy under Arsene Wenger last term.

And Mkhitaryan has opened up about the different approach that Emery brings to the table after the Spaniard officially took over at The Emirates this summer.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Mkhitaryan said: “It’s not too different but there are different things because there is not people playing in the same way or thinking in the same way, the philosophy is different.

“Emery kept the philosophy of Wenger but is building something new on it. He knows he can give something different to this club, like the balance between attack and defence. It’s not easy but I think he’s doing it in the right way.

“We have to keep working because we have a new manager, a new philosophy and want to play in a different way than before under Wenger.

“It’s not too easy but we are trying to achieve that and do what the coach is asking from us. He wants to play football and dominate the game and that’s what we’re doing, we’re not just kicking the ball up front.

“We are trying to play football, our second goal against Chelsea we had 19 consecutive passes and then Alex [Iwobi] finished the attack and we scored.

“It’s a new philosophy, we have to accept that and work hard to achieve our goals.”

Mkhitaryan will be hoping to help Arsenal return to winning ways in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon when they host West Ham United at The Emirates.

The north London side have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign under Wenger.
