Lucas Torreira looked to be in a focused mood as he took part in his first Arsenal training session on Monday.

The Uruguay midfielder is currently getting used to his new surroundings in England after becoming one of Unai Emery’s first signings since the Spanish manager took over at The Emirates.

Torreira had been granted an extended summer holiday following his involvement in the World Cup in Russia with Uruguay but he has now reported for pre-season training with the Gunners.

The 22-year-old signed for Arsenal from Italian side Sampdoria last month and he will be hoping to be a regular fixture in the first team at The Emirates next season.

And he seemed to be in good shape as he reported for training at London Colney on Monday.

Torreira will be hoping to help Arsenal become one of the challengers for the Premier League title next season as they look to try and win the trophy for the first time since 2004.

The north London side ended up in sixth place in the Premier League table last season and without a trophy in Arsene Wenger’s final campaign in charge.

The Gunners will be aiming to break into the top four at the very least next term.
